06/08/07 Today a dear sweet friend, Dawn, from Missouri flew into town. We were so thrilled to have her here. We got to spend a week visiting, swimming each day, going to the beach, showing her our favorite restaurants and talking, talking, talking! We had so much to catch up on, went pirate hunting at Johns' Pass and had fun each and every day. The week passed too soon, didn't want her to go back, but know she has to go. Her Momma is sick and that's where she needs to be. All my love to your wonderful family! There is ALWAYS a vacancy at the Sullens hotel for you and yours! 06/16/07 Today is a day I have been looking forward to for a long time. Got the day off work for the Vice President's visit to our Largo Elks Lodge. The VP, Ed and his wife Mary Ann, were very nice and of course I walked the Lodge taking pictures, got about 80. So nice to see my Lodge finally full like it should be all the time! hahaha Got to meet many wonderful folks from all the lodges in our West Central district. And got to meet in person the webmaster for these Lodges, Rick. Him and his wife Karen were fun to visit with. I have been emailing him for a few weeks now, he works hard on all the web sites and it shows. Elks Way. I learned about the Dunedin Clowns off his website. I would demit in a heartbeat to be a clown! How wonderful that would be! A truly lovely evening from beginning to end. Didn't take us long to get the remains cleared away and all had a wonderful time. 06/21/07 The dam has broken. The words are finally flowing from my fingertips, it feels so WONDERFUL to be writing again. Part of me has been missing for years. I knew I was "full of it", but never realized they were stories! hahaha Beautiful day out as I head south on US 19. Going to Wally World for 4 new tires so that I can do some serious travelin'. First day of summer, such pretty clouds out, thunderheads forming. Had my friend and fellow Elk, Bill go for a ride with me. His wonderful website is Elks Run. We're going to go the Back Way to Pinellas Park Elks Lodge # 2217. Not far from the Walmart Supercenter, going S on US 19, right before the Park Ave/Gandy Blvd intersection, make a right at the Bob Evans Restaurant, and go a block or so and you'll see the Pinellas Park Elks Lodge at the crossroads. The nice bartender lady is Erica and got to visit with a few folks there. Never knew Thursday night was pizza night and it was truly delish. Met a nice Largo Elk, Mr. Fred Carr, was a pleasure to visit with him. Getting dark as we head back down the road, let me tell you, US 19 is NOT a back way, it's a very dangerous, crazy, they want to kill you road. Next time I come here, I'll have my map and find something new. We headed N to go back to Clearwater, thanks, Marty, I do love those new tires! 06/24/07 Beautiful day out as I head out the door. Across the Pinellas trail and the red light caught me at Rosery/Clearwater Largo roads. The canna's are in full bloom at Ted's Restaurant on the left. Off to cross Missouri Blvd, so many yards have such beautiful blooming flowers. Took a left onto Lake Street. Here I cross "funny bumps" and think of my sweet granddaughter, Phoenix Joe Mailyn. It's a little rise in the pavement that I've found about 40 mph makes her squeal! She's living in Tennessee now, but I remember always. Turned right onto Gulf to Bay, lots of traffic out and about today. Welcome to Clearwater! I love living in tourist towns. It was great fun at Lake of the Ozarks in Missouri and it's great fun here! Turned left onto Keene Road, bike trails everywhere. At Sunset Point, I turned right. Pretty church steeple on the right, then down about a block on the right is a little plaza that has a big orange clock out by the road. All the way down on the right, is a wonderful little bar that my friend Bill turned me onto, called Brew Time Pub. I loved the place and of course took lots of pictures. Met the wonderful bartender lady, Carmen and enjoyed a couple of cold drafts and then ordered the house special : Chili with the works. They have several hot sauces to add more kick, I was partial to the firesauce...Met many new folks and truly enjoyed watching a longhair take down his braid, deja vu on that, my dear Darlin's hair was very long, too. So nice to see beautiful long lucious locks on a man. Makes me smile....what a wonderful adventure today has been. |
