Wispy white clouds in a baby blue sky out today. Getting onto Hwy 54 this morning was a major accomplishment. Lots and lots of traffic in both lanes. We got a good rain yesterday and now all the grass alongside the road and in between is shiny green and growing in this sunshine. Vehicles have license plates from several states, Iowa, Illinois and Kansas. Welcome to the Lake! Four days before the election, will be glad when that's over. On down to Osage Beach, got to stop at Picks Fireplace and meet Charlotte. Thanks for letting me leave a few JCAD brochures. Even got to visit with Sue. Her and Ed have sold Pak Mail and are heading towards Greene County. Good luck to you both and your family! We'll come visit you at the wildlife museum. Had to stop by the Elks Lodge to do some work, be sure to attend our Christmas Basket Auction November 18th! On down Hwy 54 West until we turned right at the light at Hwy KK. Busy around here. Stopped to visit again at a new store, Wedgewood Antiques. I met Connie last Saturday, brought Darlin' to meet her today. Hey, it's the other partner, Judy. Oh my! We know this lady, had met her at the e-Bay seminar last year. How wonderful! This store has many quality antiques and great displays. Do stop by and visit. Please tell them JCAD sent ya! We'd love to get them on the site and in our JCAD brochures. Nice visit, on down the road to do a GREAT update with Lucy at Oak Leaf Gifts. Her store is geared up for the holidays! The new Armani statues, Christmas teapots and beautiful paintings make this store a joy to shop in. So MANY wonderful collections! Had a great visit, thanks for the donations for our Elks Christmas Basket Auction, got all the new information and Darlin' got some great pictures. Headed home the back way. The sun is setting and the sky is many shades of pink and orange colors. Come enjoy the beauty of our communities. See you next trip!

Wonderful Darlin' and son Marty built us a hickory fire out in the BBQ this morning..how nice to have steaks, brats, smoked sausage and hotdogs! We'll have food cooked for days! Thanks guys! It was delicious, it's 11:15 a.m. and now Darlin', Marty and I are off West on Hwy 54 heading towards the Beach. Lots of new black marks going in many directions on and off the highway. Be careful out here, remember your manners and hey--using those brake and turn signals does mean a lot! We have too much traffic for the little roads we have. We all have to watch out to take care of each other. Thanks! At the Hwy 42 junction, we turned left and down to one of our favorite stores, Osage Beach Flea Market. Had a GREAT visit with Don and Caroline. Their store is constantly changing, stuff sells and different items are restocked on the displays each week! Come visit Quick! Met some nice customers and found out what they collected and of course, they all got a JCAD brochure. Even got to visit with Mickey Mouse for a minute before we were done. Look forward to him getting on-line, soon too! Good update, wonderful pictures and Marty got to check out all the neat stuff! Headed home the back way. Ya'll be careful out there! Let us know what you think of our stories in the back way! We're only an e-mail away! Ya'll take care and stay in touch.

Gusty winds and cold out 30's as I head East on Hwy 54 to Eldon, Missouri. Across from the airport you will find Anita'a Keepsake Kottage. Had a nice visit with Anita, between the telephone ringing and salespeople in and out, she's keeping busy today. The store is wonderful as always, now all decked out for Thanksgiving and Christmas! Great gift ideas! So many unique items you can't find anywhere else. HUGE selection of Ty items. Got some good pictures, a good update and passed out JCAD brochures to all the customers and left some brochures for Amy to pass out, too! On down the road to visit with motels and stores and to pass out more JCAD brochures. Lots of traffic out as I head down Hwy 87 to Hwy 54 heading the back way home. Ya'll be safe!

Cold out 32 degrees and gusty winds as we head East on Hwy 54. The truck is nice and warm as Darlin' was out cleaning the plugs and then letting the Toyota warm up. Beautiful blue skies and quite a bit of traffic. Got off on the Hwy 54/52 exit and headed left towards Eldon. Bought gasoline and Darlin' braved the cold at the car wash. Taking Hwy 52 West to Versailles. Still gusty winds. Lots of vehicles for sale along the way. Into the community of Barnett population 215 and the price of gasoline is 145.9. The winds are blowing us around. Black Angus cows in the field on the right, they have new baby calves in the sunshine by the fence. Monster machine on the left with many blades spinning is cutting limbs from under the power lines. Stayed West thru Versailles staying on Hwy 52. Into the town of Stover, population 964. Got to stop at friends shop, Casa Bonita. We met them several years ago when they first opened up their shop down Hwy 135. Left JCAD information, would love to sign them up. Turned right at Hwy 135. Nice places, even a Missouri Century Farm on the right. It would be mighty hard in this day and age to keep a farm in the family for over 100 years! Congrats! Turned left onto Hwy M, my favorite way to go to Sedalia. The ponds all look good, full and clean. All the leaves on the trees are brown, nice catfish ponds on the left. Newly plowed fields on the right. The creek looked good, the wind had it running backwards! Entered Pettis County. We have seen many trees with what looks like new leaves or pollen or flowers, they look like elm or maple trees. They sure stand out with the bare oaks. Turned onto Hwy V and into the community of Bahner. Saw the steeple for St. John's Catholic Church, it shines in the sunshine. A garden on the right has 6 ornamental cabbages in a row. They sure are a pretty purple! Hedge apples everywhere, some still on the tree. We got to see a Missouri mule standing by a brushpile and watch a huge hawk flying down the hollar to land in a tree on the left. Someone has sure been busy cleaning out the fencerow. One hedge apple tree has so many apples on it the branches are hanging down and it looked like ornaments on a Christmas tree. At the stop sign we turned right. Into Sedalia, we got to stop in some new shops we found--like Purity's Treasures, met Purity's Mom, Susie. Nice shop on East Second Street. Stop by and see them. Stopped at Becca's Framing as was her Mom, Eileen's request. Her shop has grown so much since we were last here. It's really a nice collection of antiques, framing shop and vintage books. Went down to visit with Ann at I-land Computer Services. Got news of Beth and had a nice visit with Ann, of course, she got the latest JCAD brochure! Congrats to the new parents at 305 Spin! Way to go John! Back tracked to Herricks Antiques for a nice visit with Shirleen. We got her to come online and see our work while we were there! How wonderful! Brian made it back from the Post office as we were heading out the door. Good to see ya'll again! On down the road to Clinton, Missouri. Had to stop by The Emporium Flea Market and let Barbara and Tom know we're in town. We needed their printout of items sold to finish their latest update. On down the road, waved as we drove by Wagon Wheel Antiques. Hope all are well, there. This trip we are trying to visit all the new stores that we weren't able to last time because of trouble with our truck. Made it out to Memories Antique Mall and visited with Jack. This new store is for sale. On over to the Rusty Shovel to have a nice visit with the manager, Linda. We'd love to have their store in JCAD. Hope she tells the owner about our work. Found anew store for us in a nice lady's home. The first 3 rooms are called Wine Barrel Antiques. It's a beautiful home, all decked out for the holidays and has a black wrought iron fence around the yard. We'll be back! Stopped back later at the Emporium and pickup up the print out from Linda. Got to meet her husband, too! How nice. Back out to the truck and away we go! Heading out of Clinton and we took Hwy C towards Lincoln, population 874. Saw a red tailed hawk, 2 geese flying and even stirred up a covey of quail! It's 29 degrees out at 2:00 p.m. After Lincoln, we took the detour for Hwy 52 East. Ok, I see what they did! Just moved us all over 1 road! Nice and warm in the Toyota as we come back through Cole Camp, Versailles, even got to stop at our favorite, Camps Market for great fruits, veggies and excellent chocolate! Getting dark out now as we are heading home the back way. So nice to see the smoke coming out the flu and Marty has the house nice and warm. Thanks son, for helping bring in all our work stuff and even making supper! Get out the witchhazel, ahhhhh, now our feet feel much better. There's no place like home! See ya'll next trip! We're stoking the woodstove, ya'll stay warm, too!

From our family to yours, Happy Thanksgiving!

11/25/00
Wet, rainy and cold out as we head East on Hwy 54. Lots of traffic out on this nasty day. The temperature is just right to snow. That would be great! The limestone bluffs are green where they've been re-seeded. Turned left at the Hwy 87/M Junction. Hazy sky, all gray today! Passed the city limits sign for Eldon, population 4,419. We're heading North on Hwy 87. See a Santa, sleigh and reindeer adorning a yard on the right. Thanksgiving is over and now it's on to the Christmas holiday decorations. Still drizzling rain as we pull up at Blast From the Past. There is a scaffold in front of the store and we look up to wave at Gene, he's up on top working on his sign and painting. Looks good! On inside and got to meet his daughter, Katie and gave her the update list and she got busy with that! She's learning the store, what a great way to get started! So many wonderful, unique items, this shop just get more full every visit! From the floor to the ceiling, wonderful depression glass plates, vintage furniture, advertising media, Graniteware in many sizes and colors--ah the list goes on and on. Darlin' got some great photo's and I was writing as fast as I could. Of course, all the customers got a JCAD brochures to take home with them. Got a great update! Come by and see this store, it's a shopping adventure that you will truly enjoy! Gene is such a nice, thoughtful man and is always finding the most unique items in town! Poor guy is still busy working outside as we tell him how much work his new helper did for us! We sure were proud to meet her. Across the street to visit with Wilma at Maple Street Emporium. So glad to hear that Randy is Ok after a car and deer crash. Sure miss talking to him and his enthusiasm and sure will miss this store in JCAD. We wish ya'll the best and we're only an e-mail away. Pouring rain outside now as we head home the back way. The roads are slippery, we're only a few degrees above freezing. Slow down folks, watch out for the deers as they are out and about and have a GREAT visit to our area. Welcome!
