12.06.02 This has been a rough month for our family so far. My poor Darlin' is very ill. Tried to get him to the hospital this morning with the help of our daughter Robin. Just too much. Later that day, he felt up to driving the Toy, I packed us a bag and we headed out for the City of Jefferson to the St. Mary's Hospital emergency room. As we suspected, my Darlin' was admitted. The folks there were very nice, courteous and respectful. They even let me use their Dell laptop at the nurses station in the emergency room to e-mail our children and let them know what was going on. Up to the 4th floor, got him settled in his room. We both felt a sigh of relief that he was getting help, as he was mighty dehydrated and weak. It's hard to believe that he was there for 6 days. I stayed with him the whole time. Seems like time stood still, days and nights blended into one. We met so many fine nurses and even help enlighten a nursing student. Ya'll did GREAT! You took such good care of my Darlin' and every night after midnight, we were able to compute to write our children to let them know what was going on, what we needed for them to bring up and to look up information about procedures and test results. Many tests and the news was not good to hear, pancreas cancer that has spread to his liver. Had all 4 of our children come up together to get the news and plan our strategy on how to get him well. Many tears, turning to thoughts of happy times bringing laughter, hugs and so many prayers to the Good Lord. Please, keep my Darlin' in your prayers. He says he sure can feel the difference the prayers are making. We're so blessed to have him on prayer lists across the state and across the country. We came home Thursday, December 12th, 2002 to regroup. 12.13.02 Friday the 13th, our lucky day. Got so much accomplished, got the ball rolling on many avenues of information about our lives. Met a nice man down in Laclede County, with a good attitude, living the B.E.S.T. way he can. Have appointment Monday with doctor at Ellis Fischel Cancer Center in Columbia. Got my Darlin' back home, we even got to sit outside for a little while, swinging together and watching the beautiful sunset. All these doctors are coming back to the same thing, proteins that control the switches to his DNA. It's good food, good water, good rest, good thoughts and up to the Good Lord. 12.21.02 Happy 20th birthday to our baby girl, Robin Anna. All our love to you! Got to hug her neck at her favorite restaurant, they all came over later for dessert. My Darlin' and I were able to go see the beautiful waters of the Lake of the Ozarks at our favorite parking spot. So soothing to our souls to watch the water. Had a magnificent eagle come along the trees at the edge of the lake, circle around and come back to fly lower directly over us and look us in the eye. Thanks Lord, that was a good omen. We sure did feel invigorated by the eagle's spirit, that it's OK, all will be well. I believe. 12.24.02 Wonderful, wonderful snow! Coming down for many hours, and no signs of letting up! Happy Birthday, Jesus. A white Christmas! It doesn't get any better than this! Our son-in-law, Dave was chauffeur this year in his 4-wheel drive, he dropped off Ray and Sarah. He's off to get Jesse, Robin and Brian. Marty was so very happy they arrived. We had a GREAT Christmas breakfast and opened many wonderful gifts. It was so good to be all together. We are truly blessed. From our family to yours, Happy Holidays! 12.31.02 The last day of 2002. I'm looking forward to the new year. I believe many good things will be coming our way. I've heard from several friends that I should be doing more writing. Folks, I need your help now.
